McKee Associates, Inc. is a family owned company specializing in Design-Build new construction and remodeling of office buildings, tenant spaces, metal buildings, retail spaces, restaurants, and churches since 1964. We have specialized teams within our company: for example, our commercial division and our restaurant division allow us to use our specialized expertise in each area to provide you a custom approach to your project.

McKee Associates, Inc. was founded by William F. McKee in 1964 after realizing that there was a need for a quality carpentry labor subcontractor. He eventually developed his skills into becoming a general contracting firm. Bill started his career off by attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After attending the University of Wisconsin, Bill went to work for Oscar Mayer, where he became a building maintenance supervisor and assisted with finding new building locations. He would then manage the construction of these new facilities, which helped in the growth of Oscar Mayer.

In 1970, Bill began developing land in and around the Madison area. You may have heard of some of the areas he has developed: Tower Hill, Wildwood, Seminole Ridge, Chapel Valley-Fitchburg, and Gateway-Verona.

Bill ran both McKee Associates, Inc. and Midwest Homes Inc. (our residential sister company) for many years. In 1993, Bill’s son Brian McKee joined the firm as a construction manager. He brings many new and innovative ideas to the building industry. Brian started learning every aspect of the building business at a very early age while working for his father doing landscaping, framing, and carpentry. While attending college, Brian continued to work as a carpenter and also began running small commercial projects for McKee Associates, Inc.

Brian McKee is currently the President of McKee Associates, Inc. and Midwest Homes, Inc. and has run the company since 2009. Brian’s mother Jan still works in the office along with his sister, Melissa, who handles IT, accounts receivable, and accounts payable for both companies.

Our Philosophy

At McKee Associates, we define success every day and in everything we do. Our philosophy of doing business comes from our founder’s favorite phrase: “If you don’t have time to do it right the first time, when will you have time to do it again?” Doing it right means having the right team members and an established process as we design, bid, and build projects for our clients. We approach each and every project as if it was going to be our own. We listen to the needs of our clients and create functional spaces with quality fit and finish, all on a budget agreed to with the client. Community Involvement

At McKee Associates, we are very active in our community. We have partnered with The Design for A Difference Project, donating our design expertise, materials and fund raising. We built the Dane County Fire Chief’s “Fire Safety House”, and also support the Ronald McDonald House in Madison, the Oregon Athletic Booster Club and DAIS (Domestic Abuse Intervention Services). We care about issues that affect homeowners so we are consistently working with legislators to make sure regulations don’t add unnecessary cost to the construction of new homes.
